Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you get up to!
Hi, I’m Courtney! I grew up in the beautiful North Norfolk countryside but moved to the city for work. I started my creative journey as a wedding photographer, which soon grew into a love for dog photography alongside my 9–5 in property. My passion for photography really took off after rescuing my little terrier cross, Sid, in 2021. Since then, I’ve loved capturing dogs in their element and creating content that tells a story. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me out walking with my dogs, exploring new places, getting out into the countryside and enjoying a bit of fresh air.
How did you first get involved in the countryside and working dog community?
My journey into the working dog community began when I got Lenny in January 2025, and it’s been such an exciting experience ever since. Growing up in the countryside, I’ve always felt at home around rural life, but having Lenny has given me the opportunity to become more involved in the world of working dogs. Since then, I’ve been learning about training and preparing him for his first working season. Along the way, it’s been lovely meeting like-minded people and becoming part of such a welcoming community.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Paws@Brooklyn team?
What I enjoy most about being part of the PawsBrooklyn team is being part of such a welcoming community of like-minded people who share the same passion for dogs and working dog life. I love being able to share Lenny’s training journey, learn new things along the way and showcase products that we genuinely enjoy using. It’s lovely to be part of a brand that supports our adventures and helps us grow together! I also love taking photos so having brilliant products to showcase to help others is a bonus!
Tell us about your dogs! What are their names, breeds and personalities?
Sid joined the family in summer 2021 at around 9 months old. She’s a rescue originally from Romania, with a high prey drive and a very independent streak. She’s stubborn, feisty and full of character, but also incredibly loving. She’s the best dog in the house and, honestly, a little bit of me in dog form! Lenny joined us in January 2025 at 10 months old. He’s a high-drive, goofy, affectionate boy who brings so much personality to everyday life. He’s introduced me to the world of gundog training, and we’re learning and growing together every day. They couldn’t be more different, but they both have huge personalities and the biggest places in my heart. I wouldn’t change either of them for the world!
Are your dogs involved in gundog training, working in the field or any other activities?
Sid is a true terrier through and through! Whether she’s disappearing down rabbit holes or hunting rats, if there’s an opportunity to hunt, Sid will find it. She definitely keeps her terrier instincts alive and I like to fore-fill the breed to ensure she is happy. Lenny has spent the last year learning the ropes of gundog training and has really taken to it. We’ve been working hard together, building our skills and confidence, and we’re hoping to get out in the field picking up this season. It’s been so rewarding watching him develop and seeing just how much he enjoys it. We’re excited to see where our journey takes us!
What's your favourite thing about owning and working with dogs?
My favourite thing about owning and working with dogs is seeing how happy, fulfilled and content they are when they get to do what they were bred to do. Especially with Lenny, watching him discover his love for gundog training and seeing how much he thrives when he gets to use his natural instincts is so rewarding. There’s nothing better than seeing them enjoy life, build confidence and be the happiest versions of themselves.
Do your dogs have any funny habits or little quirks that make you smile?
Sid has the funniest way of demanding attention! She loves a fuss in the evenings, but whatever you do, don’t stop before she’s ready… you’ll definitely hear all about it! She’s very good at making sure everyone knows when she wants some attention. Lenny, on the other hand, has one specific teddy that he absolutely adores. He carries it around like it’s his most prized possession and will gently nuzzle it like a newborn baby. It’s the sweetest thing, especially when you see this high-drive, energetic boy being so gentle and loving with his favourite toy.
How did you first get into photography and content creation?
I first got into photography through wedding photography, capturing special moments for people, which is where my creative journey began. Over time, I started exploring dog photography alongside my 9–5 job in property, and it quickly became a real passion of mine Rescuing Sid in 2021 sparked my love for capturing dogs and their personalities, and getting Lenny in 2025 introduced me to the world of gundog training. This naturally led me into content creation, where I love combining my photography skills with our adventures, training journey and life outdoors. I love creating content that tells a story and captures those little moments that make life with dogs so special!
What do you love most about photographing dogs and countryside life?
I love capturing dogs doing what they love most and showcasing their personalities in their natural environment. There’s something so special about countryside life, being outdoors, exploring new places and watching dogs just be dogs. I love the combination of beautiful scenery, natural light and those little in-between moments that tell a story. For me, it’s about capturing memories and creating images that bring you right back to that moment.
Do you have a favourite photograph or moment you've captured?
My favourite moment has to be capturing Lenny retrieving his first dummy. When I first started working with him, he was obsessed with tennis balls! He would never give them back, instead parading around with them or frantically trying to get to them as soon as they were dropped, often tripping you up in the process! Getting him to understand calm, steady behaviour and learning to work together has taken over a year of patience, consistency and training. So, seeing him retrieve his first dummy was such a special moment. It represented how far we’d come together and all the hard work that had gone into getting there. For me, it’s so much more than just a photograph. It captures a milestone in our journey together, and a moment I’ll always be proud of.
What's your favourite part of creating content for Paws@Brooklyn?
My favourite part is being able to combine my love of photography and content creation with our gundog training journey. I love capturing Lenny out doing what he loves, showcasing the products we use along the way and creating content that feels natural and tells a story. It’s lovely to work with a brand that fits so naturally into our lifestyle and to share our adventures with such a welcoming community!
Do you have any tips for people wanting to take better photographs of their dogs?
My biggest tip would be to invest in a good lens! You don’t necessarily need the most expensive camera or equipment, but a decent lens with a low f-stop (wide aperture) can make such a difference, helping you achieve that lovely blurred background while keeping your dog sharp and in focus.
We can see you love travelling! Tell us a little about some of your favourite adventures
We absolutely love an adventure! 🤎 With two dogs, I knew I probably wouldn’t travel abroad as much unless I could take them with me, so I decided to buy a campervan and take our adventures on the road! Since then, we’ve explored so many beautiful places, from the coastlines of Cornwall to the mountains and countryside of Wales, and further north to the Peak District, which has to be our favourite place! There’s nothing better than finding new walking routes, exploring somewhere new and spending time outdoors with the dogs. For us, it’s all about fresh air, beautiful scenery and making memories together, wherever the road takes us.
What's been your favourite place you've visited so far?
Definitely the Peak District! There’s just something about the scenery, rolling hills and endless walking routes that we absolutely love. It’s such a beautiful place to explore with the dogs, and having the campervan means we can take our time, find new spots and really make a weekend of it.
Do your dogs join you on your travels and adventures?
Always! They come everywhere with me!
Is there anywhere on your travel bucket list you'd love to visit?
Scotland! I’d love to take the campervan up there with the dogs and explore the Highlands, discover some beautiful walking routes and take in all the incredible scenery. It looks like an absolute dream for outdoor adventures and photography, so it’s definitely one we need to tick off!
Early mornings in the countryside or cosy evenings at home?
Tough choice! I love both. Early Mornings in the countryside where it’s quiet and the world hasn’t woken up yet!
Camera or phone – which do you use most?
Camera every day!!
What's one thing you couldn't live without when heading out with the dogs?
A slip lead! We love our Paws@brooklyn slip leads, easy on and off when out in the field!
Finally, what's your favourite Paws@Brooklyn product?
Light weight Training vest always, so many pockets and so handy for training days!
