Launching Our Next Generation Range at Paws@Brooklyn

At Paws@Brooklyn, we’re passionate about supporting the future of the field sport community  and that’s why we’re so proud to officially launch our Next Generation Range.

This new collection has been designed especially for young handlers, those beginning their journey in the world of gundogs, field trials, and country life. From Paws@brooklyn training jackets, young handlers dummy vests to Paws@brooklyn slip leads and dummy bags, the range is all about encouraging confidence, connection, and skill in the next generation of handlers.

We’ve always believed that dogs bring people together, teach patience, and nurture responsibility and for young people, that connection can spark a lifelong love for the countryside and working dogs.

Meet Our First Next Generation Ambassador: Bealesfield_Gundogs

We’re delighted to introduce our very first Next Generation Ambassador Bealesfield Gundogs!

Representing the heart of the next generation community, Bealesfield Gundogs has already shown fantastic dedication and enthusiasm in training and fieldwork. With a deep respect for the dogs they work alongside and an eagerness to keep learning, they embody exactly what the Next Generation Range is all about — passion, patience, and progress.

You’ll be seeing Bealesfield Gundogs putting our products to the test, from early training sessions to days out in the field, sharing tips, inspiration, and their journey as part of the Paws@Brooklyn team.

Q&A with Melissa – Paws@Brooklyn Ireland Ambassador

To celebrate the launch, we caught up with Melissa, one of our wonderful ambassadors from the Ireland team, to hear her thoughts on training, motivation, and her advice for young handlers just starting out.

Hello Melissa! Welcome to the Ireland Ambassador Team! Please can you tell us a little bit about you and your dogs?

Hi, My name is Melissa and I co-own Forest View Gundogs in Ireland with my partner Patrick Peppard. Between us we own Labradors, Springer Spaniels and Cocker Spaniels. We compete in field trials under IKC and KC competitions. I am also a section 2 labrador retriever field trial judge under IKC. I love to shoot over my dogs and I'm lucky to be part of the picking up team at a local large shoot.

Please tell us a bit about your training and training young handlers…

At Forest View we train 6 days a week and compete in field trials in the winter and working tests in the summer. Encouraging and supporting young handlers is extremely important to us as they are the life line of our sport. We host a young handler training session once a week and will be increasing this to twice a week in the summer time. Some of our handlers are only 7 years of age and it is fabulous to see the confidence they exude. The young handlers bring their own dogs of different breeds. They learn to sit them steady, train their dogs to the whistle and retrieve dummies to hand.

What do you find most rewarding when training young handlers?

Young handlers learn so quickly and gain an incredible bond with their dog. Some of our young handler team have even competed in working tests in the summer season . It's wonderful to see them gain confidence.

Do you have any advice for young handlers?

I would encourage any young person to try out some lessons with their dog. They will be amazed at how much they will learn and to remember that having fun with their dog and building a bond is the most important part. Most importantly learn from any mistakes made rather than getting disheartened.

Anything else you would like to add below?

It is so important for the future of our sport that young handlers get an opportunity to learn in a positive and supportive environment. They are the future and should be encouraged.

Through our Next Generation range, we offer products designed specifically for young handlers. From lightweight training gear to accessories that make every session in the field more enjoyable.

By supporting Paws@Brooklyn, you’re not just buying gundog equipment — you’re helping to nurture the future of the sport, inspire confidence in young handlers, and sustain the countryside traditions that bring us all together.
